Simon Blake
Tall, awkward, and always a bit of an outcast, Simon is hoping to try and make a fresh start after moving to Elm Creek with his mother and sisters. Cryptids, ghosts, and all things supernatural captivate Simon. He's convinced about the existence of ghosts and monsters and has always dreamed about finding proof that they're real. His fascination with the supernatural comes from a deep love for the natural world. Most days he can be found reading a book in his garden or practicing guitar in his bedroom, surrounded by plants and posters of cryptids. Fiercely loyal to his friends and grateful to the group for bringing him under their wing, Simon is determined to do what he can to help them solve Isabelle's disappearance and keep everyone safe.
Isabelle Parker
Isabelle belongs to the richest and oldest family in Elm Creek and she will never let you forget it. She dresses and acts in accordance with the public image her father has chosen for the family.
Sabrina Garcia
Impulsive and dramatic, Sabrina is both impossible to predict but never seems to surprise anyone. She inherited her mother's firey passion for work but seems to apply it to every little aspect of her life, not just her lacrosse games. Her emotions always seem to be in extremes and she has a habit of being combative with her brother. Despite her unpredictability and non-stop chatter, she loves and is loved by her friends deeply. She is always ready to fight to defend them and never shys away from being herself, except for when she's around Isabelle. With Isabelle she's quiet, withdrawn, and disconnected. No matter how unhappy her friends insist Isabelle makes her, she is determined to find her and bring her home.
Daniel "Danny" Garcia
Danny puts in a lot of effort to look as chill and aloof as possible. He doesn't try hard in school, never raising his hand or joining extracurriculars, but somehow still gets the best grades in the group. He spends most of his free time at his computer teaching himself programming and other computer sciences. He likes to spend more time observing than contributing, always giving off an air that he knows more than he lets on. His aloof facade tends to backfire when his, often accurate, theories go ignored frequently by the group. He bickers with his sister constantly but maintains that he would kill for her if the opportunity came. Never die for her though, obviously.
Jae-Sung "James" Yun
Beatrice Locke
Pink, peppy, and sporty, Beatrice used to be one of the popular girls on the cheer squad but was kicked out at the end of grade 10 last spring. Now she's on the school's baseball team and focuses most of her energy on that and her grades. She tries to always look on the bright side and is eager to offer help. She does her best to fill Simon in on the ins and outs of the social scene at school, always conscious of making sure he doesn't feel left out. She's nearly always smiling and in good spirits, but even the quiet girls snap under enough pressure.
Sadie Blake
Simon's mother who has a habit of collecting strays and is always doting on her children and their friends. She grew up near Elm Creek and used to have to visit the family home every summer. She managed to avoid coming back here since graduating from University in Kingston, but now she's stuck here and trying to learn how to raise her children alone in a town she's been running away from her whole life.
Ivy & Avery Blake
Simon's younger sisters. Ivy is 13 and Avery is 11. Ivy can be a bit direct and opinionated, but she's good at thinking outside the box and often talks Simon down from his more wild supernatural theories. Avery spends most of her time with her nose in a book and thinks her older brother is deeply embarrassing.
Hildegard Blake
Sadie's great-aunt and the oldest person in town. She struggles with her cognitive functions now and is being cared for by Sadie and her children. Her lucid moments are few and far between, but she always says something odd that makes the kids think she might know more about the mystery than she realizes.
Sumner Locke
Beatrice's older brother (19) and biggest supporter. He takes college classes part-time online and spends most of his days in his room working on assignments and nearly every evening playing games high. He does his best to be a source of wisdom for his little sister's friends, but usually his great philosophical insights come across as confusing nonsense. He acts as a slightly more responsible guardian to the group of friends, sometimes insisting on driving them to and supervising them on their outings. The friends feel safe coming to him with their problems or the investigation because they know that while he cares and wants them all to be safe, he also trusts them to make their own decisions.
Leslie Evans
An old classmate of Simon's from Toronto and a girl whom Sadie is constanly worrying about.
Richard Lewis
Simon's father. Simon never brings him up and dodges any questions asked about him.
Matthew & Irene Parker
Isabelle's parents. Their family was one of the founding families of Elm Creek and the ones to bring the Wych Elm planted in the centre of town with them from England. In the modern day, the Parker family continues to be one of the wealthiest families in town and oversees much of the land development in the area, including the new planned subdivision for Elm Creek.
Lucas & Natalie Garcia
Sabrina and Danny's parents. They met at 18 when they both attended the same college and haven't left each other's sides since.
Adam & Anita Locke
Beatrice and Sumner's parents. They're a bit odd and unconventional, described by the neighbours as hippies. They get along well with Sadie and often invite the family over for dinners in their garden. They support their children wholeheartedly in carving their own paths in life, but are sometimes a bit overprotective of Beatrice.
The Yun Family
James' mother and younger brother. They moved to Elm Creek when James was 11 because they couldn't afford living in the city after his father passed away. His little brother, Jae-Ho, is now the age he was when they moved here and having a much easier time socially in middle school than James did.
Matty
Simon's coworker who works as the cook at the local diner and speaks in a thick Ottawa Valley accent. He's in his mid-twenties and is friends with Sumner. You never see him without his headphones.
