Other Side is a young adult supernatural mystery that I've been working on for a few years now. I'm currently writing the manuscript and hoping to get it published where I live in Canada once it's complete. The main themes of the book will be transformation, transitions into adulthood, found family, negative impacts of suburban sprawl on the environment, and the continued mistreatment of Canada's indigenous population.
Simon Blake's family has just moved to Elm Creek into the crumbling family home his mother used to visit as a child. All he wants is to forget his life in Toronto and start a new, simple life. Before he knows it, he finds himself caught in the middle of the disappearance of a girl from town and her friend group that has fallen apart. With police spending more time making public appearances than investigating and her parents seemingly unconcerned, the friends come back together to find a way to bring her home. The more questions they ask, the more they have, and they quickly learn that not everything in town is as it seems. With strange sounds being heard in the woods and a mountain of missing children's posters hidden deep in the town archives, the friends realize the mystery is much larger than they ever imagined.
